Infonova was founded in 1989 and focused on providing IT consulting services. Infonova’s first BSS was conceived and built for IP services at the incumbent carrier Telekom Austria in the mid 90’s which resulted in the platform being specifically designed to deal with the complexity found in such incumbent environments. Infonova also built an IP Telephony Class 5 solution for Telekom Austria (which has also been implemented at MDCC) that resulted in the BSS needing to be developed to support the BSS functionality for the PSTN legacy world.
Infonova has also played a substantive role in IP leadership. The Infonova group worked with world’s standards bodies: the ITU, the IETF and ETSI, holding the Vice Chair for TIPHON that was created in ITU WG6 and engaged with IETF to deliver the ENUM standards. The first global ENUM service VisionNG using +878 (granted by the ITU) was sponsored by a dozen carriers and implemented on the Infonova platform implementation at Telekom Austria.
Consequently, Infonova’s BSS contains sophisticated levels of BSS functionality for both IP as well as legacy services – delivering a truly convergent BSS capability. Infonova’s BSS is a world class “Quote to Cash” platform has now been implemented at a numbers of operators in a variety of configurations that demonstrate the robustness of the architecture and functionality. These operators recognised the need to implement a platform that manages the complexity and convergence of legacy and IP and to do this at a low total cost of ownership.
Over fifteen years of continuous improvements have been incorporated into Infonova’s BSS product. Additionally, with the recent re-engineering into the latest IT technologies Infonova’s BSS has been ‘future proofed’ for another fifteen years. As a result operators using Infonova solutions are able to receive the benefits of these upgrades in Infonova’s core BSS product.
